How to use this tool
- Upload a PDF and select Automatic, Text tables only or OCR. Choose the document language or script when using OCR.
- Compare the extracted cells with the original. Review low-confidence cells and correct misplaced values, headers or missing rows.
- Export the selected table as CSV or all extracted tables as Excel. Open the downloaded file and check important totals against the source.
Example: review an extracted stock table
If a scan contains a table headed Product, Quantity and Price, confirm those headings map to three distinct columns. OCR can confuse 0 with O or 1 with I, especially in faint scans. The editable grid is part of the conversion process: correct an item or amount before exporting rather than assuming the first extraction is accurate.
| Source detail | What to check |
|---|---|
| Quantity 12 | Both digits appear in the quantity column |
| Price 2.50 | The decimal point is retained |
| Repeated page heading | It is not mistaken for another stock item |
What to check before you export
- Upload limit: 20 MB. Automatic and OCR modes accept up to 10 pages; text-only extraction accepts up to 100 pages.
- There are 111 language/script choices backed by 12 OCR packs. This is text recognition, not translation, and accuracy varies by language and layout.
- Merged cells, rotated text, handwriting, poor scans and irregular spacing can require substantial manual correction. Review output before using it for financial or operational decisions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Yes. Choose OCR, or use Automatic mode, and select a suitable language. Scan clarity and table layout affect the result.
Does this preserve the exact PDF layout?
No. The output focuses on table data. Formatting, merged cells and complex page layouts may not transfer exactly.
Can I edit the cells before downloading?
Yes. The grid is editable and the exported file includes your changes. You can also add or remove the last row or column while reviewing.
Can I keep confidential PDFs off the server?
Use the downloadable local source app, install its dependencies and OCR packs, and run it on your own computer. The hosted converter sends your PDF to the AyrLabs server.
